We are a small hobby breeder of Labrador Retrievers based out of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Any litter bred by us is primarily for the purpose of continuing our breeding program.
Our main goal is to breed Labradors that exemplify the American Kennel Club standard and can be readily trained to fill various roles; whether that is as a companion, a family member, a hiking partner, a hunting asset, an agility enthusiast, a service or therapy animal.
We strive to breed a dog that will excel in any environment with the proper training. While our kennel is relatively young, we have been in the Labrador world for some time.
Kristin got started while still in grade school as part of Debonair Labs. There she began to quickly absorb information from many amazing mentors and was blessed to have been able to participate in both 4H and AKC Junior Handling. Her love for the Labrador was able to flourish as she continued to be involved in breeding, training, and handling dogs in high school. She took a small step back from being directly involved in breeding in order to stretch her wings and continue her education through attending an out of state college for Biology. Further going on to be accepted into a veterinary college before life made that career path unattainable. In both colleges she was able to expand her skills and make lasting connections with many extraordinary people around the world.
Mark grew up with a family skilled in several aspects of the construction field and has gained experience and knowledge throughout his life. He manages the log processing for Firewood Supply NH and once our personal supply is secure, he keeps camp wood bundles available for purchase at the roadside as well as hardwood by the cord locally with delivery available.
Mark also runs landscaping and excavation aspects of Tag Hollow, using his years of experience in the field to not only maintain our personal property but also assisting those in the area with their projects.
Mark’s introduction to Labradors happened at the end of high school where he began dating Kristin and was quickly dragged into everything she was involved in. Before long he became a first time dog owner when Kristin brought home a puppy(Lizzie) in the middle of the night. Since then he has developed a deep love for the breed and training canines, quick to take credit for any tricks the dogs master. Though Kristin would argue that his biggest accomplishment was teaching the cats to act like dogs.
Together, we look forward to continuing to enrich our lives with Labradors as well as continue to serve our community with the skills we have gained throughout our lives. Labrador Retrievers are an extremely versatile breed so who knows what adventures they will lead us to next.
Our labradors are raised within our home as members of our family, receiving daily interaction and play.
Each dog is different, as such, each dog receives training suited to their innate skills and motivations. All of our dogs always begin training with crates. We firmly believe that all dogs should be crate trained for their safety and wellbeing. Our dogs view their crates as a safe space and often run to them in any situation that they are unhappy with, namely nail trim days.
When it comes to grooming, we do our best to ensure our dogs' nails are trimmed and filed weekly, teeth brushed monthly, and baths given during peak shedding season or when they find themselves a bit too muddy. We feel this extra care to hygiene not only keeps our dogs healthy but also helps in training to deal with situations they may not be comfortable with.
Our dogs are regularly exposed to a variety of sounds; from regular household noises to sounds from farm animals and wildlife to loud road noise, like large commercial trucks as well as construction equipment. We hope these unavoidable noises provide us with well rounded puppies prepared to deal with anything life may throw at them.
We stay active within the Labrador community and maintain membership with The Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston. When time permits we attend local shows, with or without dogs in tow, to ensure we are in touch with what is happening within the breed. Most of our time usually is spent by the confirmation ring, but we’ve played a bit with agility, obedience, and rally in the past and if a dog shows an aptitude or drive towards one of the many dog sports we enjoy jumping out of our comfort zone to see them fulfilled.
