Flock size

Our current flock started out with 30 chickens made up of 5 Welsummer, 5 Gold Laced Wyandottes, 5 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 5 California Whites, 5 Australorps and 5 Easter Eggers. By the end of our first year we had lost 4 of our original girls to predators, saddened by the losses but happy with the health and condition of our remaining hens we made the decision to expand our flock. Four months after our girls’ first birthday we added 25 more chicks to our flock. These chicks included some of our favorite breeds from the original flock as well as the addition of Production Reds, Golden Stars, and Black Stars.

We donate to the Wakefield Food Pantry as the girls and our schedules allow. On average we send over a couple dozen eggs per week during peak production.
